Melissa Gilbertson Physio is a physiotherapy clinic based in Hamilton New Zealand, providing expert care for a wide range of conditions. Our experienced team specialize in treating sports injuries, back and neck pain, upper and lower limb injuries, and arthritis. We believe in a holistic approach to physiotherapy, working with our patients to create a tailored treatment plan that addresses their individual needs.

Introducing Melissa Gilbertson - Senior Physiotherapist

 

Melissa is highly skilled in her scope of manual therapy, exercise rehabilitation, biomechanical assessments, acupuncture, sports physiotherapy, and emergency health care.
 

Melissa has worked for High Performance Sport New Zealand for over 10 years as a Lead Physiotherapist in which she covered the Tokyo Olympics, Rio Olympics, multiple World Championships for Rowing New Zealand, and the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games for Cycling New Zealand. Melissa has a special interest in athletics and has been team physiotherapist for the Oceania Athletic Championships, Australian Youth Olympics, and NZ High Performance Development tour in Europe.

 

She has a very successful history as a previous elite track and cross-country runner and completed a five-year running scholarship at the University of Oklahoma during which she completed a Bachelor of Science in Health and Sport Sciences and then completed a Bachelor of Health Science in Physiotherapy followed by a Master of Health Practice in musculoskeletal physiotherapy at AUT.

 

Melissa holds a unique skill set from previously being a former Army medic and currently works as an Emergency Medical Technician for St John Ambulance. With her range of skills and experience Melissa is an asset to any sports team. This has led her to being utilized on many occasions to cover New Zealand elite athletes and teams overseas.

 

Melissa specializes in treating a wide range of conditions, including sports injuries, back and neck pain, upper and lower limb injuries, and arthritis. Melissa’s approach is patient-centered, and she will collaborate closely with her patients and the wider multidisciplinary health team to optimize the best results.
